Bruins outlast Canadiens in shootout

MONTREAL — Game 1 of the Montreal-Boston “series” went to the Bruins. In a very entertaining, if somewhat sloppy, regular-season affair, Brad Marchand’s goal in the fourth round of the shootout gave the Bruins a 4-3 victory against the Canadiens tonight at the Bell Centre. It was the first of three games in an eight-day span between these longtime rivals.
